Initially, the unlimited downloads with free beta product key for Windows 7 ISO has been opened till January 24th, 2009, but has been extended till February 10th, and all download must completed by February 12th, 2009.
According to Windows Team blog, shutdown of general availability for the Windows 7 Beta will occur in 3 phases over the course of the next few weeks:

  • Starting January 27th, the Windows 7 page will be updated with a warning that time is running out on downloading the Windows 7 Beta and that we will be limiting downloads shortly. People will be encouraged to register and start the download of the Windows 7 Beta sooner rather than later.
  • February 10th, new downloads of the Windows 7 Beta will no longer be available. People who have already started their Windows 7 Beta download and have not yet finished will still be able to finish their download and are encouraged to do so.

IE8 Official Download Links

Internet Explorer 8 is available for legal and free Download

Internet Explorer 8 RC1 has been officially released by Microsoft, where the English IE8 RC 1 build version 8.0.6001.18343 has been leaked for free download since days ago. With the official release, IE 8 Release Candidate is now available for 25 languages for 32-bit and 64-bit (x86 and x64) Windows Vista, Windows XP, and Windows Server 2003 or 2008 as version 8.0.6001.18372.
IE8 RC1 improves on the web browser’s user experience based on feedback, and according to IEBlog, has made the following chances to further improve and enhance IE8 after the IE8 Beta 2.

  • Platform complete, where the final IE8 release to behave as the Release Candidate does. The IE8 product is effectively complete and done.
  • Reliability, Performance, and Compatibility improvements.
  • Security. Sites can now protect themselves and their users from clickjacking attacks “out of the box,” without impacting compatibility or requiring browser add-ons.

IEBlog also listed some information related to installation of IE8 RC1.

  • If you are a Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008 user and you are upgrading from IE8 Beta 1 or Beta 2 to IE8 RC1, you are no longer required to manually uninstall earlier IE8 builds. Instead, IE8 RC1 installer will automatically upgrade your machine from the earlier IE8 builds to the latest IE8 build, all with a single reboot.
  • There is a new pre-requisite for IE8 RC1 (KB957388). This update supersedes KB943302 and KB957055 and will be automatically installed as part of your RC1 upgrade, as long as you keep “Install the latest updates” checkbox checked. This update addresses known application compatibility issues in Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 and improves the performance and reliability of IE8.
  • All IE8 Beta 1 and Beta 2 users will be offered IE8 RC1 via Windows Update in 25 languages. For Windows XP and Windows Server 2003, the IE language that gets offered via Windows Update will match the base OS language. For Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008, the IE language that gets offered via Windows Update will match the Active Language that the user selected for their account.
  • If you are running Windows 7 Beta, you will not be able to install IE8 RC1. You will get an error message saying that your operating system is not supported since IE8 already ships in Win7. The IE8 RC1 available from Microsoft Download Center is a standalone upgrade for downlevel version of the OS only: Windows Vista, Windows XP, Windows Server 2008 and Window Server 2003.

Note: An updated version of IE8 will be available for Windows 7 users.

Windows 7 Build 7025 Is Live Now

Windows 7 Build 7025 is Out..Forget Windows 7 Beta!!

Forget Windows 7 Beta Build 7000, Microsoft has already moved past what Steven Sinofsky, senior vice president, Windows and Windows Live Engineering Group, referred to as the four core development milestones of the next iteration of the Windows client (M1, M2, M3 and Beta). In this context, the Redmond company has already debuted the testing of post-Beta builds for Windows 7. The leaked screenshots and version information available for Windows 7 post-Beta Build 7025 are illustrative examples of Win 7's evolution. At this point in time, Windows 7 Build 6.1.7025.0.090120-1850 is live and already deployed in testing environments.

Fact is that, even at the end of 2008, before Win 7 Beta was offered to a select pool of testers and subsequently leaked, Scott Wylie, Microsoft's New Zealand director of Development and Platform Strategy, revealed that Microsoft went past the 7000 mark with the platform's development process. Ahead of Christmas, Wylie leaked a screenshot of Windows 7 Build 7004, which he referred to as pre-Beta, an inaccurate statement, given that the version number superseded that of the official Beta, namely 7000.

And since the Beta of Windows 7 is actually Build 7000, this means that all later builds labeled with higher version numbers are post-Beta, and belong to the the Release Candidate branch of the operating system, including Build 7025 (screenshots via PCBeta). 7025 is at least pre-RC, but signaling that Microsoft is moving Windows 7 toward Release Candidate, even though the default wallpaper continues to be the Beta Fish.

After Microsoft released Windows 7 Beta Build 7000 downloads to the general public on January 10, 2009, “We are currently in the development stages for Windows 7 and expect it will take approximately 3 years from Windows Vista Consumer GA to develop,” a Microsoft spokesperson stated, in what was a standard PR answer from the software giant. However, Sinofsky has already confirmed that Windows 7 will move straight from Beta to Release Candidate stage, and subsequently to RTM (release to manufacturing).

Another detail that Microsoft is not yet prepared to discuss is related to the editions of Windows 7. This even though the company has already confirmed that Win 7 will come in a variety of flavors, including Windows 7 Ultimate,Windows 7 Enterprise and Windows 7 Professional (formerly Business). The leaked screenshots of Windows 7 Build 70025 reveal that the software giant has tweaked the installer yet again.

The new setup process lets users choose between Windows 7 Starter, Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate as the editions to install. The deployment process of Windows 7 Build 7025 continues to be very similar to that of Windows Vista, in terms of the SKUs end-users get to choose, and the software giant is bound to adapt it yet again ahead of RC.

Next Generation iPhone Model Revealed in Firmware

New iphone in the Making..get ready..!

The internet is afire today with reports that the iPhone firmware v2.x contains the unique device ID of a new iPhone model. On plain view (if you know where to look) inside the USBDeviceConfiguration.plist, is listed the iPhone v2,1.
According to MacRumors, this represents the name of the actual hardware: the original iPhone was designated 1,1 while the iPhone 3G has the monicker 1,2. Apparently, the new model is being tested inside Apple and has made an appearance in the server logs PinchMedia, an ad serving company. iphone buy

Rumors of the next generation iPhone point to the support of Multi-Core CPUs and possibly Multi-Core GPUs from Imagination Technologies. Apple has been building a team of chip engineers over the past year to participate in their own ARM processor designs that will presumably be used in future iPhones. Schiller previously outlined Apple's natural product timelines and acknowledged that June is the usual timeframe for major iPhone revisions, although storage increases could happen at any time.

Internet Explorer 8 (IE8) RC1 Unofficial Leaked Download

Internet Explorer 8 (IE8) is the next version of IE web browser to be released by Microsoft. The IE8 Beta 2 has been released back in August 2008, and although it’s a great improvement over IE8 Beta 1, the Beta2 still has plenty of issues to be ironed out. IE8 will be included with Windows 7, and Microsoft has planned to release IE 8 RC1 (Release Candidate 1) for Windows Vista and Windows XP by end of January, which should be more stable, and has less bug.
If you can’t wait for official release of IE8 RC1 by Microsoft which can be anytime now, Lord Devrexster has posted a leaked version of Internet Explorer 8 Release Candidate 1 on WinMatrix forum. The leaked IE8 RC1 has the build version 8.0.6001.18343, so it’s not meant for Windows 7, where even the Windows 7 Beta has IE8 already at build version 8.0.7000.0, although IEBlog has mentioned that the version of IE8 in Windows 7 Beta is somewhat older than the Internet Explorer 8 Release Candidate (IE8 RC1) that is about to release for Windows Vista and Windows XP.

The leaked IE 8 RC 1 is only available for 32-bit (x86) Windows Vista and Windows XP. The IE8 RC1 also cannot be installed on Windows 7 Beta, which already has its own interim beta build of IE8.

ie8-rc1

From early words, IE8 RC1 doesn’t improve much from IE8 Beta2 though. As some partners of Microsoft has already receiving an even newer build of IE8 at 8.0.6001.18344. And, Windows 7 Build 7025 has IE8 at build version 8.0.7025.0, which should be similar to IE8 RC1.

Windows 7 Build 7025 Screenshot Images with IE8 RC1

The official Windows 7 Beta has been released with the build version of 6.1.7000.0 (build 7000). Even before the official beta was released early 2009, screenshots for Windows 7 build 7004, 7012, 7015 and 7016 has been received by selected beta testers and the screenshots were posted to Internet. The latest version of Windows 7 available and released to privileged few.. appears to be build 7025.
A beta tester has posted the screenshot images of Windows 7 build 7025 on a Chinese forum bbs.pcbeta.com. From the graphical user interface (UI), it’s hard to conclude that if there is any major change or bug fix been done on the new version, as the GUI stays pretty much the same with the official beta build 7000 of Windows 7 one. One thing of note though, that Internet Explorer 8 has stripped itself of the word “beta”, and now Windows 7 build 7025 has IE8 upgraded to Release Candidate 1 (RC1) version 8.0.7025.0.

Windows 7 Build 7025 has build version of 7025.0.x86fre.winmain.09120-1850, and is compiled on January 20th, 2009. The installed copy of Windows 7 Build 7025 will expire on July 2nd, 2009 too..(that might raise a few eyebrows).

Why Did Microsoft Skip Office 13?

I've received a few emails from people who recall the previous version of Office carrying a code name of "Office 12." Their inquiries ring through a resounding, "what the heck happened to "Office 13?" Though this issue has been addressed within a few of the Microsoft communities ever since we first found out there would be no "Office 13," I'll go ahead and echo the core fact of the matter: Superstition, Watson! Ho ho!

Yes, it seems the folks who coin the code names on the Office team at Microsoft decided that 13 was indeed an unlucky number, but this comes as no surprise seeing it as Friday the 13th is supposed to be unlucky and many 13+ story buildings either have a 12a designation or they do as Microsoft has done with Office and skip to 14. It's all just cutsy little semantics and doesn't amount to a hill of beans in terms of what the product will actually be, so don't freak out simply because someone at Microsoft has a sense of numerologically impending doom.

Psst! Hey, Microsoft: "...the number 13 isn't any more unlucky than any other number. There exist negative and positive, and balanced, over-balanced, and under-balanced qualities for every number." That's straight from a numerology "expert." Personally, I don't subscribe to any superstitious dogmas but if you want to see just what they're buying into, go here.

And if you happen to wonder if this is all indeed why they skipped "Office 13" for a code name, nothing's better than a document straight from Microsoft's servers showing as such. Here, Eric Vigesaa, the 2006-? Program Manager for Office System client applications, is having a discussion with TechNet and says the following on 12/27/2006:

"Eric: I actually am taking a vacation for two weeks and then, it may sound strange but the next version of Office is already in the planning stages, we want to make sure that our IT perspective and apps are represented in the new product focus and offerings so we’re going to be very involved with that.
Michael: So that’s Office 13 in development huh?
Eric: Well, 13 is unlucky so we’re calling it Office 14."

Oddly enough, even folks within Microsoft prior to then were assuming the natural progression from "Office 12" to "Office 13." Again, residing on Microsoft's servers, are a couple of documents containing the same information from 2005 referencing the development of ""Office 13" prototypes":
Source 1: Dik_Bigl.pdf

Both of those documents are in Dutch, but with a quick Babel Fish translation comes a loose interpretation of what we can easily gather to be the information we're interested in in regards to "Office 13:"

"With which (version of) product Microsoft comes also on the market, there is always a remake in frequently make and is thus still worked to the prototypes of a still remake. To give an example: Office 2003 are in 2005, the current version of Office and have the internal version number 11. For Office 12 for the `Longhorn wave' and is now already researchers there it is at present worked busy with considering and developing prototypes for Office 13. Thus continues invest Microsoft in the future."

Windows 7 Build 7015 and 7016 Screenshots

M icrosoft has officially released Windows 7 Beta which has the build version tag of 6.1.7000.0.081212-1400, publicly known as build 7000, and was compiled on December 12, 2008.
